CdmaOne, 1x, 1X EV-DO, KDDI has enhanced network up to now while maintaining interchangeability. According to Director Fumio Watanabe of au wireless access Engineering Department,au is enhancing EV-DO, the main points are "Broadcasting mode" and "Wireless LAN".
   After introducing"cdma One",The network of au has evolved to "CDMA2000 1x"in April, 2002,and "CDMA2000 1X  EV-DO". in November, 2003.  

Down-link is not the only one usage,developing a new market.

  KDDI has started the following enhanment since the development of EV-DO has achieved to some degree. It is an idea to create new market from communications service main to the video telephone for surveillance and IP telephone system as business solution ,and the broadcast and the broadcasting service etc.

"Speed-up of up-link", "Wireless QoS and QoS of end-to-end function", "Broadcast and broadcasting wireless function", and "Further speed-up of the IP transmission. ", etc. to be enumerated as points to be reinforced. "Broadcasting mode (Broadcast/Multicast service)" and "Wireless LAN" are the points of future enhancement.

  As for contents like the EZ channel delivered to a terminal now individual, if it is the same contents, the broadcasting mode will be used.

Qualcomm Japan commented on the evolution of EV-DO .
KDDI started last December "1X WIN", fixed charge packet transmission service . The communication method is called "CDMA 1x EV-DO". It is a communication method with high flexibility, so the fixed charge system is enabled though it is a speed of 2.4Mbps or less.It specializes in the packet transmission of the Internet type.

  The EV-DO introduction completes the first stage by starting 1X WIN. However, technological EV-DO evolution will not stop. The director for business development, Osamu Maeda who takes charge of EV-DO in Qualcomm Japan said "This year's main point  is a multicast".

Simultaneous transmission of the same data, multicast of EV-DO.

 EV-DO multicast is sometimes referred to as broadcasting. EV-DO multicast is to transmit the same data to two or more users from the base station in the same area .

  The maximum advantage is that the width of the frequency used can be extremely little. The volume of information that can be sent by the communication is decided by the width of the frequency and S/N (strength of the signal to the noise). When the communication of one to one is the basic system of the cellular phone , the frequency and time are divided by the number of users,  and transmitted by mixing a signal different in each user. Because resource of frequency was shared by number of users

 If this is a multicast,the width of the frequency doesn't change even if so many users use it. It is like broadcasting the television and the radio .

  What becomes possible by introducing this technology? Motion pictures transmittion fom  base station to mobile terminal just like Television Broadcasting.
