TV broadcasting for mobile phones
AT&T starts broadcasting for mobile phones
AT&T, the biggest business entrepreneur of the U.S. cellular phone
(old Cingular Wireless) starts Television Broadcasting for the cellular
phone within the year. Verizon Wireless, the 2nd place in the U.S. cellular
phone, also will start similar service by March. The share of the two companies
within the United States will be 60 percent. Television broadcasting for
mobile phones seems to spread to the United Sates, following Japan and
South Korea.

Comment of the above-mentioned article
Many mobile phone companies in Japan such as E-access and Sony communications,KDDI,Softbank,Docomo announced the broadcasting service plan
for mobile phone in 2005, but there is not much advancement in their activity
since then.
The broadcasting services for mobile phone done in Japan are clipping cast,
the content is updated every one hour or two hours by mainly using still
pictures, and One Seg, 15 scenes per second which is less equivalent to
television quality by using single channel. They are no match to the services
planned in the United States of broadcasting for mobile phones by using
50 channels.
There should be various reasons why broadcasting services for mobile phones
are not realized in Japan. The parties concerned should study how to solve
the problem by fair and legal manner and not rely on unacceptable illegal
manners which will damage the company reputation and discourage their office
staff morale.
When
the patent for broadcasting for mobile phone originally applied to the Patent
Office, the following clause has been included.
“The
patent covers broadcasting for mobile phone when mobile phone usage is low such
as nighttime and early morning and the frequency band is available for
broadcasting”
However, the Patent Office provided us with
the patent applied documents which show the same condition, so we deleted this
part.
The
Japanese mobile phone companies are broadcasting their content one hour or two
hours interval, we are not sure whether their services infringe our patent or
not unless we get correct log details and ask specialists to study fully these
documents.
On the other hand, we received a mobile phone company’s letter which clearly states “there is no infringement in our service”, we have no other way but to accept their insistence at this stage.
